Mating in progress. It seems to be the male (dark bars) that wraps around the female (bleached bars). I saw the same pattern for a couple of barred hamlets.

Pair of indigo hamlets milling around above a brain coral boulder jutting out from the reef wall edge. This was around new moon when I saw several pairs mate.
